Abstract

I've lived in Europe for about two years, prior to which I worked in the government sector in the United States for about 10 years. I spent most of my time in the US working with government and industry based PKI deployments supporting various types of credentials. Since I've been in Europe I've noticed that most countries have a cottage industry built around the PKI credentials, and that on occasion these stakeholders gather at conferences focused on electronic ID (e-ID) interoperability, cross-border trust, and associated pilots funded by the European Union. These conferences or workshops offer the PKI experts an opportunity to update their colleagues on product enhancements, pilot programs and projects taking shape in their home country or on the pan-European scene.
