Abstract

Infrared quenching of luminescence peaks has been studied in impurity-doped silver halide crystals. The values of the trap depth of the luminescence centers are estimated tentatively from the excitation spectra for infrared quenching. An energy level scheme is proposed for several luminescence centers in the band gap. A model of color centers is also proposed, taking into account the experimental results reported previously. It is revealed that these centers are deeper than expected for electrons or holes in silver halides.
