Abstract
The excitation and emission spectra of CsCdCl 3 crystal grown by the Bridgman growth technique, are observed. Its dominant excitation spectra correspond to the transitions between the electronic energy levels of the face-shared [CdCl 6] 4− octahedron complexes with C 3v symmetry. With the help of the molecular orbital diagram of the [CdCl 6] 4− molecule complex, an approximate electronic energy level diagram of this crystal is constructed using one-electron approximation.
