Abstract

The components of the tensor electronic conductivity are calculated using the Shkarofsky transport equations for the case of shock heated partially ionized argon in the shock Mach number range 8-20 at fore-pressures of 0.1, 1.0, 10 torr and for magnetic field strengths of 1 and 2 Wb m-2. The results are compared with earlier simplified calculations and the continued role of electron-neutral collisions, even at high degrees of ionization, in reducing the electronic conductivity is demonstrated.
