Abstract

Abstract The absorption spectrum of Mn2+ions doped in lithium ammonium sulphate has been studied at room and liquid nitrogen temperatures. The observed bands are assigned as transitions from the 6A1g(S) ground state to various excited quartet levels of a Mn2+ ion in a cubic crystalline field. The band positions are fitted with four parameters B, C, Dq and α, fixing α at its free ion value.
