Abstract

1. Electron-donor groups such as CH3 and Si(CH3)2 in CBr3CH2CHBrR compounds in charge transfer complexes with ferrocene produce a hypsochromic shift of the charge transfer band, while electron-withdrawing groups such as CN, CF3, CO2H and CO2CH3 produce a bathochromic shift. 2. The consecutive replacement of bromine atoms in the CBr3CH2CHBr fragment by hydrogen or going from the CBr3 group to CCl3 leads to a hypsochromic shift of the charge transfer band.
