Abstract
Photon spin-lattice relaxation times T 1 for Co(NH 3) 6X 2 compounds with X = Cl, I, ClO 4 were measured in the whole available range of temperatures, i.e. from 400 K down to 5 K. They indicate that the predominant source of relaxation is the interaction with the unpaired electron spins from Co atoms. The temperature dependence of T 1 allowed for determination of the Co electron spin-lattice relaxation and thus the localization of certain electronic energy levels.
