Abstract

Abstract The effect of deviation from the planar structure in electron spin-spin interaction has been semiempirically investigated for spin multiplet ground state of radicals with methylene bonds. If these bonds are not coplanar, a significant influence occasionally appears on the values of D and E, while the influence is very small if the relative orientation among the methylene bonds still does not change.
