Abstract

We present a detailed investigation of the magnetic properties of a disordered Cu 80Fe 20 metastable alloy, produced by dc sputtering, in the temperature range 4–300 K. The experimental results from ESR, magnetization and susceptibility measurements do not show evidence for any long range ferromagnetic order and suggest a spin glass-like behaviour with a T g as high as 136 K. Strong Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya anisotropy effects are revealed at low temperatures.
