Abstract
A new electron spin lattice relaxation mechanism for molecular radicals in glassy matrices has been developed based on modulation of the electron nuclear dipolar interaction between a trapped radical and nearby tunneling nuclei. Saturation recovery measurements of radicals in aqueous and organic glasses can be interpreted by this mechanism.
