Abstract

Total cross sections for methanol, methylamine and ethane molecules were measured in a linear electron-transmission experiment for impact energies from nearly 1 eV up to 250 eV. Results show that for those targets and CH3F, isoelectronic with them, between impact energies close to the cross section maximum and the highest energies applied, the total cross section increases with static electric dipole polarizability of the molecule.
