Abstract
We investigate the electron dynamics of Na9+ excited by strong fs laser pulses and fast proton collisions. Non-perturbative numerical simulations are performed using time-dependent density-functional methods on a semiclassical and fully quantal level. Both excitation mechanisms induce pronounced dipole oscillations accompanied by rapid ionization.
