Abstract

Recently, a model for multiparticle production in reactions of the t y p e / k + B ~ A*~-B (where A* is an excited hadron state or fireball, which can be produceddiffractively or by reggeon exchange) has been suggested by JOHNS, I~ARGOLIS, ~EGG8 and LOGAN (1). Simply, their ansatz is: the above process is dominated by one-fireball production, followed by the statistical decay of the fireball. The decay rates into different final states are then given by the densities of these states within the fireball of mass M in the statistical bootstrap of FRAUTSCHI (2), divided by the total density of states at tha t mass.
