Abstract

AbstractElectron paramagnetic resonance of Mn2+ and VO2+ in dibarium zinc formate tetrahydrate is studied at X‐band and at 298 K. The ions substitute for the Zn2+ sites in the lattice. A correlation is found to exist between the V—O and Zn—O bond directions. The spin‐Hamiltonian parameters are evaluated. Forbidden hyperfine transitions Δm = ± 1 and Δm = ± 2 are observed for Mn2+ and their doublet separations are found to be in agreement with calculated values. The angular variation of the intensities of the allowed and forbidden hyperfine transitions of Mn2+ is also studied and is found to be in good agreement with the theory.
