Abstract

The electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) spectrum from the 57Fe nucleus in high-spin ferric heme was obtained in frozen solutions of metmyoglobin and methemoglobin. Values for the isotropic and anisotropic hyperfine coupling constants were obtained from studies on 57Fe-enriched heme proteins. Small but definite differences between the values of the hyperfine constants for the two proteins were observed.
