Abstract

Osmium tetroxide-fixed liquid crystalline structures of the phosphatidylserine-water system have been studied by electron microscopy. Under the experimental conditions used ( c = 0–100%, T = 20–40°C) the system forms only micelles and phases with lamellar structures. In the last group a dispersion pattern and a homogeneous phase may be distinguished. Structural parameters and range of existence of lamellar phases are given.
