Abstract

Extracted chromatin from wheat germ and 3 days-germinated seedlings is negatively stained with sodium silicotungstate, and examined by means of electron microscopy. The chromatin consists of fibrous elements, and is about 200A in diameter. The germ chromatin appears to be made up of a number of aggregates which have a mean diameter of 2, 200A. In contrast, no aggregates are present in the seedling chromatin.
