Abstract

In a previous communication (1), it was pointed out that the keratotic papular lesion, elastosis perforans serpiginosa, that has masqueraded under a variety of names, appears to be a lesion involving primarily the elastic tissue. Clinically, the eruption is found largely among young male adults, is asymptomatic, and has a self-limited course. It does not appear to have an hereditary basis. Isolated case reports with special staining procedures of biopsy material indicating the nature of the lesion have been supplemented by elastase digestion experiments in several laboratories (1-3).
