Abstract

Analytical transmission electron microscopy techniques were used to characterize a γ-TiAl (Ti-48Al-2Nb-0.3Ta, at%) alloy. It was shown that the second-phase particles persisting in the as-extruded and heat-treated conditions were α-Al 2O 3, introduced probably during the melting stage.
