Abstract

The electron impact excitation of multiply charged ions via autoionisation states with an inner-shell vacancy is discussed. Calculations of the excitation rate constants are performed for the process Fe15+ (2p6, 3s)+e to Fe14+(2p5, 3s, 3d, nl) to Fe15+(2p6, nl)+e where n=4. The contribution of the resonance excitation to the total excitation rate constants is approximately 10% in the case of the corona equilibrium.
