Abstract
Abstract The “theory of local electronic structure”, proposed by Kohn and Yaniv, is applied to the description of a vacancy in aluminum (jellium model) within the self-consistent density functional procedure. Comparison with the exact solution shows that this simple theory leads to an accurate electron density profile.
