Abstract

The correlation function between two emitted electrons has beencalculated as a function of their momentum difference for doubleionization of 1s2s excited He atoms by fast ion impact. Asimple quantum mechanical approach is developed to take intoaccount the dynamics of two-electron ejection as well as theeffects of electron exchange and correlated electron motion inthe final state. A clear difference between the correlationfunctions of the excited and ground state targets is reported.
