Abstract
Directional Compton profiles of hcp Mg are calculated by the APW method and compared with the experimental ones. In general, theoretical Compton profile which is based upon the independent particle model (IPM) is a little greater than the experimental one around the origin of the momentum space. We introduce a correlation function to the results of IPM band calculation. By analyzing the differences between theory and experiment the electron correlation effect is discussed.
