Abstract

The energy spectrum of electrons in the primary cosmic rays was measured at a location where the vertical geomagnetic cutoff rigidity is 11.5 GV, using a balloon-borne counter system. The differential spectrum was determined in the energy range from 13 to 50 GeV and is represented by a power law with exponent −2.4 ± 0.6. This result is consistent with a spectrum extending smoothly from lower energies with the same slope.
