Abstract

Some features of electron-beam propagation through a narrow metal tube at a gas pressure of 1–10 Pa have been investigated. A forevacuum-pressure, plasma-cathode electron source was used to generate the electron beam. The results obtained are described and compared with the case of electron-beam propagation in free space. A comparison shows that the tube makes it difficult for the beam to pass. Calculations based on the Rutherford scattering and Monte Carlo method show satisfactory agreement with experimental results.
