Abstract

The multiple structure of type III burst sources observed at 169 MHz is investigated. All the sources are resolved into narrow components (∼ 2′). The angular separation in longitude and latitude between the two main components of complex sources is determined and the angular width of the electron injection region is estimated. It is shown that the electron scattering due to the irregularities of individual trajectories can explain the size of individual components.
