Abstract

AbstractSpecial features of the crystal lattice shielding of electric fields nonuniform at interatomic distances are discussed. It is found that in this case electric field gradients may exceed those in homogeneous dielectrics (antishielding effect). The dependence of the magnitude of the effect on the lattice parameters is analysed. Estimates of antishielding factors for dipole and quadrupole moments in ruby were made.
