Abstract

Charged dielectric films with soft and rigid elastic and non-affine properties can be used as electro-mechanical and electro-acoustic transducers when at least one unclamped surface exists. Our previous results on one- and two-dimensional systems illustrate that the use of the Maxwell stress tensor generates perfect agreement with the analytical model. Here, the full set of equations for coupled electromechanical systems is presented. The finite-element method is employed to solve this set of equations. Electro-mechanical properties of some typical structures are also presented as examples.
