Abstract

The formation of the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) resonance in nanocells is considered. It is shown that the Dicke narrowing of the optical transition takes place in nanocells with the wall coating providing the specular reflection of atoms. The width of the EIT resonance can reach some hundreds of hertz in such cells. It is shown that the effect of the coherent Dicke narrowing of the EIT resonance can appear in both nanometre and centimetre cells.
