Abstract

Electromagnetic waves in the system ‘dielectric substrate-monolayer of adsorbed molecules’ were considered in a model taking into account a discrete nature of the adsorbed layer. An electromagnetic Green function for the system was found. Dispersion curves were calculated for polaritons of s- and p-polarizations localized on the surface of a solid with a layer of adsorbed molecules. They were studied for resonant as well as nonresonant interactions between a surface polariton of the substrate and an electromagnetic oscillation localized in the film.
