Abstract

Experiments are reported on the transmission of electromagnetic wave through a thin aluminium slab. Helicon waves, Gantmakher-Kaner excitations and sound waves are observed, all generated by an electromagnetic launching coil. The quantum regime is apparent on the three waves and leads to oscillations of the phase velocity of helicons and sound waves and amplitude modulation of the Gantmakher-Kaner signal. Extremum values delta A/ delta kz are measured but lead to difficulties in interpretation.
