Abstract

2D woven composites can be used in the manufacture of Radomes due to the abilities of low cost, flexible properties, formability and structural stability. By analyzing fabrics structures, a wave-transparent model was established based on surface equations of fabrics and surface deformation principle. Glass fibers were woven into plain fabrics with different parameters and covered on the surface of ellipsoid Radome model, then the woven composites were cured with epoxy resin. The validity of the proposed model was verified by an experiment with the free space method in a range of 1-18GHz. The results showed that the transmission efficiencies of composites were greater than 90% and had great relation with fibers volume content. It explains the mathematical relationship between fabrics structure and transmission efficiencies.
