Abstract

With the rapid development of urbanization, the current urban underground Pipeline Network Construction is becoming more and more complicated and highly demanding, and the pipeline location accuracy draws an increasing attention. Therefore, the research on the electromagnetic wave propagation in stratum is gaining remarkable significance. By applying Wave Theory of Electromagnetic Field, this paper studies the electromagnetic signals' propagation particularity and attenuation regularity in the Horizontal Directional Drilling stratum and summarizes that the attenuation of electromagnetic signals is decided by two parameters: the stratum medium's electric conductivity σ and the electromagnetic signals' working frequency ƒ. A series of contrast analysis of curves indicates that when the stratum's electric conductivity σ is < 0.1S/m, working frequency ƒ is between 1 ~ 20KHz, and Horizontal Directional Drilling guiding construction is at the depth of about 20m in stratum, the magnitude strength ratio is above 36.8% after electromagnetic signals' attenuation, which is greatly beneficial to the emission and acceptance electromagnetic signals in the stratum. These research results provide the fundamental theoretical basis and guideline for the design, research and application of electromagnetic location depth measuring in the guiding system.
