Abstract

Higher-order Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory (WENO) based spatial discretization is used to numerically model electromagnetic wave propagation in linearly dispersive media. An Auxiliary Differential Equation (ADE) approach is used to account for effect of the dispersive medium. Results are presented for propagation of plane pulsed wave in single and multi-pole Debye medium. Higher-order accuracy can be easily maintained, including at material interfaces involving discontinuous change in material property, making WENO schemes an attractive option for modeling electromagnetic wave propagation in layered media.
