Abstract

Laser sheet is of great practical importance in various fields, such as particle image velocimetry and probe detections. On the contrary to Gaussian beam, laser sheet is the beam focused by a cylindrical lens. In order to better understand the physical mechanism, the paper is devoted to the description of the interaction between a multilayered sphere and a laser sheet beam by using the generalized Lorenz-Mie Theory (GLMT). Comparisons among the scattering properties of laser sheet, Gaussian beam and plane wave are carried out.
