Abstract
The decay modes, spins and the mixing ratios of some of the de-excitation gamma rays of the 31Si states located 0.75, 1.69, 2.31, 2.79, 3.14, 3.53 and 4.38 were investigated by an angular correlation technique using the 30Si(d, pγ) 31Si reaction. The 1.69 MeV level ( J π = 5 2 +) decays 100% to ground with δ = −4±1 or −0.5±0.1. The 2.31 MeV level decays to ground (≈ 80%) and to the 0.75 MeV state (≈ 20%). The 2.79 MeV level ( J π = 5 2 +) decays to the 0.75 MeV level (5%) and to ground (95%) with δ = −0.2 −0.1 +0.2. The 3.14 MeV level ( J π 7 2 −) decays to the 1.69 MeV state (100%) with δ = 0.0±0.1. The 3.53 MeV level ( J π 3 2 −) decays to the 0.75 MeV state (92%) and to ground (8%). The 4.38 MeV state ( J π 3 2 −) decays to ground (14%) to the 0.75 MeV state (76%) and to the 1.69 MeV state (10%). The results are discussed in the light of current theoretical models.
