Abstract

On the basis of a number of model approaches, a hypothesis of an important role of electromagnetic phenomena in the formation of whirlwinds is discussed. The formation of a hill on the water surface under the tornado funnel from a thundercloud is theoretically substantiated. A number of other effects accompanying the tornado formation and requiring the consideration of strong atmospheric electric field disturbances under the thundercloud are analyzed.
