Abstract

Wound-rotor Synchronous starter-generator (WRSSG) has become the research focus of the aviation integrated starter-generator (ISG) system because of its advantage of high reliability. In-depth loss analysis of the WRSSG is the basis for the system optimization design and efficiency optimal control. However, the high-frequency harmonic caused by the rotating rectifier (RR) and serious coupling relationship between the Main Machine (MM) and Main Exciter (ME) in the WRSSG bring difficulties and challenges for system loss analysis. In this paper, the effect of the high-frequency harmonic on the loss of the WRSSG was analyzed by finite element analysis. Besides, loss distributions of the ME and MM when the system operates in both starting and generation modes were studied. Loss analysis results can provide a reference for the system’s cooperative optimal control.
