Abstract

A considerable simplification of servo motor manufacturing can be achieved by mounting both the brake and the speed/position sensor (namely resolvers) on the non-drive end side of the motor. But the close vicinity of brake and resolver may lead to serious electromagnetical interference, when the resolver shaft is vibrating, especially with two-pole resolvers. This problem can be overcome by magnetostatic shielding. The evaluation of the effectivity of different solutions of shielding arrangement by finite element calculation and by measurement is discussed. The results show how a technically reliable and yet cheap screening solution can be achieved.
