Abstract

The effect of linear electromagnetic generation of longitudinal sound waves in a plate of FeBO 3 is observed at 230 MHz and 77 K in zero magnetization field H. The lattice displacement vector in the excited sound wave is e || z , where z is the normal to a plate surface ( z || C 3 , where C 3 is the three-fold axis of crystal). In addition, transverse sound with wave vector q || z was excited in this experiment. A mechanism of linear excitation of sound by pulsed domain walls is suggested.
