Abstract

Wireless avionics intra-communication (WAIC) system will be operated at a frequency between 4,200-4,400 MHz, which is same frequency band as aircraft radio altimeters. Following the standard document, the electromagnetic field from the WAIC devices is required to be evaluated on the hemisphere surface, which is positioned on the geometrical center of the aircraft. This paper analyzes the electric field (E-field) strength on the hemisphere around the aircraft, assuming the WAIC device is inside the cabin using large-scale finite-difference time-domain analysis. In this study, we explain the E-field strength estimation method on the hemisphere around the three-dimensional model of Airbus A320-200. Further, we discuss E-field distributions on the hemisphere based on the analysis results.
