Abstract

We report photoluminescence (PL) and time-resolved PL spectra in Au/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/CdSe-nanoparticle (NP) multilayers as a function of the distance between the Au film and the CdSe-NP monolayer. With a decrease in Au–CdSe distance, the PL intensity was enhanced slightly, and then it decreased dramatically. Conversely, the PL decay time decreased monotonically. These results can be explained basically by considering both the electromagnetic-field enhancement effect and the energy transfer effect of the Au localized surface plasmons.
