Abstract

This paper proposes the construction of an electromagnetic energy radiation system with the purpose of evaluating the absorption of microwaves in tissue substitute materials (phantom). The frequency range will be 4 to 8 GHz, and the system will be reliable and safe due the use of a security system and a complex communication and telemanipulation system that uses fiber optics with the aim of avoiding coupling of the electromagnetic energy to the outside of the system. The system will be used to evaluate microwave effects on phantom materials, and thus determine parameters necessary to obtain and control hyperthermia phenomena, and to create an effective therapeutic microwave protocol for skin carcinoma treatment.
