Abstract
Electromagnetic characterization of a metasurface composed of circular dielectric disks under normal incidence is presented. A dielectric disk is assumed to be infinitesimally thin with moderate values of the relative permittivity so that it can be modeled as an electric dipole. Thus, for the considered infinitesimally thin metasurface, normal electric surface polarization current is negligible. An analytic expression of electric polarizability of a thin circular dielectric disk has been derived for completeness. For most of the presented results, it is assumed that dielectric disk is made of realistic materials. Some interesting applications of realistic metasurfaces as a transparent sheet and a perfect reflector have also been discussed.
