Abstract

The effects of higher configurations in the {sup 15}N wave function are studied in a variety of reactions, such as {sup 15}N({ital e},{ital e}){sup 15}N, {sup 15}N({gamma},{pi}{sup {minus}}){sup 15}O{sub g.s.}, and {sup 15}N({pi}{sup +},{pi}{sup 0}){sup 15}O{sub g.s.}. A (0+2){h bar}{omega} wave function for the {ital A}=15 system that includes important contributions from the (2{ital s},1{ital d}) as well as (2{ital p},1{ital f}) orbitals modifies mostly the Fermi transitions and provides an improved description of the pion single charge exchange data on {sup 15}N. The ({gamma},{pi}{sup {minus}}) data require a wave function that can simultaneously fit the {ital M}1 form factor.
