Abstract
The electromagnetic acceleration of macroparticles to hypervelocities in an axisymmetric geometry was reconsidered in order to employ high-energy-density capacitors (HEDC) as an energy source. This new version of an accelerator has self-crowbarring electrodes arranged periodically in the electrode array; these electrodes can avoid a voltage reversal of HEDC since the allowable voltage reversal for HEDC is significantly low.
