Abstract

AbstractElectroless plating (EP) has great potential application in fabricating low‐cost metallized material. Here, EP‐Ni on cotton surface to fabricate radiation protection suits for pregnant women was established. The cotton fiber could absorb Sn, Pd particles and acted as catalytic center for EP‐Ni. Ni particle with (111) crystal plane preferential oriented crystal structure deposited on cotton surface with a coarse microstructure. The fabricated material exhibited an shielding effectiveness of 29.5 dB. Studies also shown that higher bath temperature would facilitate the enhancement of the crystallinity, electrical and electromagnetic shielding performance by 7 %, and the maximum cleaning temperature could reach 80 °C.
