Abstract

A combined method for treatment of complex wastewater based on sorption treatment of the solution volume followed by extraction of the spent sorbent by the electroflotation method is suggested. Sorption extraction of such organic substances as highly efficient washing liquids used in the production of printed circuit boards for electronic equipment and also of surfactants of different nature is studied. The OU-B powdered activated carbon, as well as iron (III) and aluminum (III) hydroxides, are used as sorbents. High adsorption values are observed for aluminum hydroxide and carbon materials. Electroflotation extraction of the carbon sorbent from multicomponent aqueous solutions is studied and the effect of metal ions and organic additives on the process efficiency is established. Additives (surfactants, flocculants) are chosen that allow enhancing the extraction degree of the carbon material up to 93–95% from wastewater containing ions of heavy and non-ferrous metals. The technological scheme of treatment of complex wastewater is proposed, including electroflotation and sorption modules.
