Abstract
Following the theory of linear piezoelectricity, the electroelastic problem of a flat annular crack in a piezoelectric fiber embedded in an elastic medium is considered. Fourier and Hankel transform techniques are employed to formulate the mixed-boundary-value problem as a singular integral equation. The stress-intensity factor, energy-release rate and energy-density factor are computed for some piezoelectric composites, and the influence of applied electric fields on the normalized values is displayed graphically.
