Abstract

It is demonstrated that the forbidden lines, which exist in the SERS and SEIRA spectra of molecules with sufficiently high symmetry are absent in these spectra of the fullerene C60. In addition the enhancement coefficient in Single molecule SERS on C60 is ∼108 that is significantly less than the value 1014–1015, characteristic for other molecules, which do not belong to the ones with cubic and icosahedral symmetry groups. These results can be explained by existence of so-called electrodynamical forbiddance arising due to belonging of C60 to the icosahedral symmetry group and due to the electrodynamical law divE=0.
